Product Description
The Hybrid Series combines Carbon fiber with Glass fiber construction to achieve the signature RainSong sound and road tough stability at an attractive price point. The Dreadnought is the traditional workhorse of acoustic guitar music. With a large, deep body and wide waist, RainSong's DR has the powerful bass and ringing treble of a great rhythmic guitar, but still maintains a wonderfully balanced sound, with clear distinction among individual notes. From rhythm to lead, the DR makes its presence known. Capable of cutting through admirably in any acoustic setting, the DR is loud enough to compete with banjoes, mandolins and other traditional volume hogs. The N2 neck is a result of an extensive, long-term collaboration with the renowned artist Steve Miller (www.stevemillerband.com) and Master Luthier John Bolin (www.bolinguitars.com). The neck design is based on a modified “U” profile that has been popular in guitars since the 1950s. The N2 has a substantial feel that is ergonomically sound and results in better transfer of string vibration energy to the soundboard. The N2 features a truss rod that is accessible from the head stock. Graphite does not warp or bow with changes in humidity and temperature. The purpose of a truss rod in the N2 is to allow customization of the relief to suit individual preferences.

I was at a jam last Sunday night with half a dozen other dreadnoughts pounding away and I was able to cut through lead lines even though I had my H-DR1100N2 strung with relatively wimpy strings (Elixir Polyweb 11's). There were many comments on how nice and big it sounded. I now really appreciate the slightly brighter tone it projects up to the player (I love Polyweb strings for their lack of squeaks, but the dull tone can get annoying when practicing).My bottom line on the Hybrid: nice conventional looks, no slide out of your lap Ovation effect (all other manufacturer's composite guitars do this), very loud by wooden guitar standards, great tone by wooden guitar standards (traditional RainSong customers will likely prefer the older all graphite models), excellent build quality, so light that other guitarists just want to hold it up to be amazed, a truss rod for us perfectionists, and all the convenience of composite materials (humidity/heat indifference).
