Its Mahogany body gives great balanced tone from its Advanced Jumbo acoustic design and features a Solid Sitka Spruce top that will improve with age and play. This guitar is electrified with a unique EJ-160E Mini-Humbucker that sounds amazing. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the BMI Foundation for the John Lennon Music Scholarship fund, which supports music education.

A Really Good Guitar, but not a Beatles' axe

Having owned two of the Epi EJ-160e's and two of Gibson's J-160e's (a Lennon model, and a Standard Model), I wanted to add my two-cents worth because I read too many reviews from owners claiming this guitar is booming with Beatles Mojo & Vib. I find those reviews to be far from the truth (I mean no disrespect to anyone). What I have found is that in their low-budget attempt to copy their Gibson brethren, Epi as created a pretty cool guitar and a nice price. There are lots of differences, which is why I say please don't confuse the two no matter what you read. Here are the most obvious differences that set the two worlds apart:Gibson = ladder bracing w/Laminate top; Epiphone = X bracing w/solid spruce top: This is actually a plus for the Epi if you plan on playing it as a true acoustic. Any owner of the Laminate Top J-160e will attest to its poor acoustic sound quality.Gibson = P90 single coil pickup; Epi = mini acoustic Humbucker (double coil): This is a matter of taste, but the point is the Epi plugged-in has an entirely different disposition.Gibson = adjustable bridge; Epi = set bridge: Again, for acoustics the Epi is designed better, but the point being, it's nothing like its big brother.Gibson = 24.75 scale; Epi = 25.5 scaleThere are lots of other obvious differences; of course you're getting much higher quality hardware on the Gibson then the Epi; these two guitars aren't in the same league, but that's why we buy Epi's - to save money! I rated it four stars only because I feel for the money they should give you Bone Nut & Saddle (like the did on the Masterbilts) and a single-coil pickup to get you closer to a Gibson P90 vib. And if you're into durability, Epi puts a .02 poly finish on the guitar (twice the thickness of the pickguard)As I said earlier, I have the two different flavors of the Gibson J-160e, but still love playing the Epi - it has it's own character. I've upgraded some of the hardware to overcome the shortfalls that the stock setup offers (tuners, plastic bridge, pickup). Another great point about Epi is that they donate to BMI, the John Lennon Scholarship fund, whenever you buy a EJ-160e! It's a great guitar for the money, but please don't think it'll transform your music into Beatle quality.Hope this helped.

I've had this guitar for a few years now, and it sounds great. It's perfectly versatile and well-made, beautiful too. Overall, it is a great acoustic electric guitar for your buck.
