This Godin Guitar 032419 is a Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss

I was looking for a Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss guitar and just happened to search by model number and this item came up. After reading the manufacturer specs on the Seagull web site I was convinced that the item listed "Godin Guitar 032419 Acoustic Guitar" was truly the Seagull Maritime SWS HG.I got the guitar and was surprised to find that other than a quick tuning the guitar was ready to play. It looks great and it sounds great. I could not be happier.

Neck is thick (not in a bad way! if you have big hands and do finger style, not bad at all.), strong and straight. Finger board is a bit wider than many others, not as wide as classical of course. Details and made is superb, mine has dead straight wood grain. Pressure tested Canadian spruce top, SWS means solid wood series which means solid wood everything. Made in Canada, human tested. Mine comes with a card attached to its neck that has hand-written initials on it, which proves it has been tested under different type of tests by different people. I saw this card and I felt like it worth every penny I spent for it before I even played. It does, however, prove itself to a first class guitar sound-and-build-wise. Do a blind test in GC, this versus a more expensive Martin. Maybe you can tell which one is which, and maybe you can tell what kind of sound you prefer. But what you can't tell is, which one is better. Because these are top quality guitars where it's hard to judge from different good sound. If you are an absolute Martin kind of person, get a Martin, it's pride and joy. If you can't care less about pride but the sound, the play-ability, and don't want to spend a fortune on it, get Seagulls. It's known as cost efficient, has quality tune, and come on it's a Seagull and there's just nothing like it...I find myself not only in love with my Maritime, but also it's the right guitar that fits my style. I do majorly finger style music, it just has the right sound for me. It has metal strings so I always fix my nails to the right length and to the right shape, otherwise it can sound either overpowered or a little bit dull. But that's just me, it handles strumming pretty much as good. (Still, a Seagull kind of strumming sound. No way it can sound like a Yamaha or something else, no.) Like I said, there's nothing like it and you have to try it yourself.Bottom line, although in the big picture Seagulls are less desired than Taylers or Martins, it walks its own way. In my opinion, my seagull sounds more like a acoustic guitar should. Yamaha sounds too distorted to me (and you can't hold a piano or a motorcycle like that anyway.. hahah); Taylor is the brand I don't like because I think they lack everything in sound but it's just me(never tried their $2k+ guitars tho), and Martin just sounds expensive big time.. I recommend this guitar to anyone on budget but want a good all solid wood quality guitar, if you are not looking for some brand specifically. Seagull saves its customer money by not making non-sense commercials. Everything I've heard about this brand is from actual people, and real guitarists. (Instead of Seagull marketing people) Of course, all I've heard is nothing but appreciation. And hell yeah, I would say the same thing here.Enjoy your Maritime.I do :)PS: I accidentally found it on sale for $430 at local GC, opened box but brand new. On black friday 2012, I saw Amazon has it for $500. Anyway, Amazon is one of the few companies that don't care about money. LOL

good and regular

i got a non-electric one so i sent it back but i can say that its not a bad guitar. its a good regular guitar that could use a good regular action adjustment and stuff. i just don't think i could connect with a seagull because they just seem a little too regular, or bland, like white rice served on paper plates and a small cup of water, no ice. so i ended up getting a 12 fret recording king and i just love it to pieces.
