A Great Guitar But....

I purchased the LKSM-12 three years ago and it's wonderful. With C# tuning and heavy gauge strings it's easy to play for a 12-string and the sound is unique.If, however, you're expecting the bright sound of a regular 12-string (I also own a Taylor 855 12-string) you'll be disappointed. The LKSM-12 sounds like a deep rumble coming from the depths of the earth. It's at it's best fingerpicking like Leo Kottke.

Best 12 string

I purchased mine new a few years ago and it does not include any electronics built-in like the one listed here. It is the signature guitar of one of the world's best acoustic guitarist of all time! It comes with heavy Elixir strings and is tuned lower (C#) than standard. It's bracing is also nonstandard. The guitar has a very unique voice and tone and is a pleasure to play and hear. I have seen Leo perform three times in the last two years and he played both this 12 string and the 6 string version of this guitar.

I own both Taylor and Martin guitars. I have personally played this particular Taylor and it is a delightful instrument. The aforementioned review has nothing to do with the guitar itself, just some guy who is so desperate to lend his opinion that he is reviewing objects he DOESN'T EVEN OWN. Martin has a great tone, and so does Taylor. Your best bet is to check them both out. I prefer my Taylor over my Martin, but my lead guitarist adores my Martin. Also, this is not a starter guitar, if you are unsure of which you prefer, you should probably start with something a little less expensive.
