Product Description
This Martin D-15 Custom Acoustic Guitar is the real deal and a real steal. Crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, tortoise binding, modified low-oval mahogany neck with a mortise-and-tenon joint and adjustable truss rod, solid Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and inlaid single-ring rosette. The mahogany body on this guitar is much lighter in weight than rosewood, koa, or maple and yields a surprisingly strong, loud sound with an emphasis on clear, bright, airy trebles. Quantities of this custom Martin acoustic guitar are limited.

Absolutely the BEST acoustic in this price range...

If you are looking for THE guitar to buy at around a thousand dollars, nothing even comes close to this one, especially if you plan on singing along with the instrument. First of all, you get the famous Martin tone, reliability and quality. There are four or five brands of guitars that all sell outstanding lifetime musical instruments. As a professional musician, I feel you honestly cant go wrong by buying a Martin, a Taylor, a Gibson or a Guild. With that being said they each have a very specific "sound" overall. Martins are AMAZING for rhythm acoustic work, the sound tends to be a very full bright robust tone with a lot of "bottom end", and i personally find that Martins are by far the best for a chord based playing style with some rocking acoustic "chugging", but dont let that alone deter you if you play a more single note driven style of guitar, because though it does have a lot of low end in the tone, it still retains most or all of the high frequency as well, making it the best overall guitar in my opinion. Taylors are amazing guitars as well and are suited more for the solo guitarist that is maybe not accompanied by voice..picking styles sound ungodly good on Taylors. Gibson sells a Beautifully made guitar, and they have a very "mellow" tone, AMAZING for folk music, but honestly not much else. I have had a Gibson Mockingbird before and i will say this, Gibson may tend to have a little bit of a "flat" tone to them, but almost every nice Gibson acoustic i have played, PLAYS incredibly well. Guilds sorts of take from the other three companies and have grown to sell some outstanding acoustic models in their own right, and to me, they have the coolest "look" of any of the top brands, and though that will attract buyers, personally i play a guitar for its sound and playability, so it could look like it was run over by a bus and if it played and sounded amazing, id probably still love it hehe. With all that being said, The Martin brand is one of the very few where your 1000 dollar plus models all tend to appreciate in value and just sound better and better as time goes on, and the Custom D is no exception...this guitar is BASICALLY a d-18 with a satin finish, and minus some high end appointments the d18 has, but at less than half the price, so the Value of the custom d is unmatched. the solid Mohagany neck on this model of guitar is a pretty big step up from the D1 or the D1GT which are both great isntruments, but "skimp" on a few appointments. The fretboard on the custom d i received was also a very nice surprise for it was nearly perfectly setup out of the box from a neck adjustment and action stand point. This guitar is LOUD. not too loud mind you, if that is even possible, but a very noticeable difference in volume from the other top brands, which was a nice selling point for me personally, as i tend to be more dynamic when i play acoustic. I currently consider myself a NOT GOOD acoustic player, and i am certain that with some time, this guitar will turn me into a "good" player, which is a sign of a fantastic musical instrument. I get a feeling like i NEED to play the guitar if i go for more than half a day without playing it.If your looking at this model and have visited other sites, you will notice right away that there is not a bad review to be found, or if there is one, it is because it shipped broken or busted in some way from poor shipping. I read a review that i thought put this guitar's quality perfectly. He said that a REAL musical instrument has it's own personality, and takes you on an adventure all by itself, sort of "tellin" you how it wants to be played and how it wants you to write whatever music it is you are writing. I couldnt agree more with that and this guitar does that in spades. as a proffesional studio musician i have also noticed that the custom d records beautifully as a rhythm acoustic tracked guitar. the ONLY negative i have found is that the custom d tends to have more low end in a recording then you want, so i found myself rolling off some low end frequency while mixing the instrument with other instruments, and having to do so can definitely change the way it sounds when you listen back to it. To my knowledge however, the only brand that DOESNT do that in some ways is Gibson, but then you are stuck figuring out how to get the gibson to have more "air" in the sound which is even harder to "Tame" in a recording, because it makes those gibsons not "pop" when you here them in recordings with other instruments, ESPECIALLY when drums are present. All in all, you want an amazing guitar at 2000 dollars or less and are having to decide between this and the comparable Taylor or Guild?? Heres a good guide to go by.. if you pick alot of individual notes when you play acoustic??..get a Taylor. you love the look and want a guitar that will nicely compliment other acoustics??...get a Guild. You want a guitar that has the best overall tone, and can do what the others do at 95 percent of the tone, and you sing while playing, it's a total no brainer, you get a Martin, and at this price point, you just get THIS guitar model. If i could give it 6 stars i would..it's THAT good.
