Many years ago my poor college student self was determined on my 19th birthday to buy a great guitar. I had done my research and walked into a small mum and pop music store in Lisle, IL, not wanting a cheap, mass-produced product, but rather an instrument that is a conduit for a musical outpouring of the soul.So without being too verbose, this review is to state that I found that instrument in Godin's Art and Lutherie spruce dreadnought. It was within my budget, sounded as nice as some guitars that were double the price from some companies that-shall-not-be-named, and looked quite beautiful; it's the same as the one pictured here. The owner of the music store let me play through the entire collection of guitars, and this was the one that "clicked" as soon as I started playing. It had the right feel. It had the right sound. It is somewhat bright, but not harsh at all. It has a very soothing, fully resonating sound. The guitar had been recommended for being lovingly handcrafted in Canada, and explained that it was a favourite among Canadian street performers along with Art and Lutherie's sister company Seagull. Those guitars all have 5 star ratings here on Amazon, and it is nice that Art and Lutherie have finally placed their line of guitars here as well. I am admitably no master guitarist, just a guy that loves music, but I have never needed another guitar besides my trusted A&L. (This coming from a guy now with 8 different pairs of expensive headphones).I think you'll love it too.
