An excellent, sweet little instrument.

Somehow, mysteriously, the price on this guitar dropped below $400.00 momentarily here, and I snagged one. I really like it.With the exception of some visible glue spots inside, fit and finish are just great. Tone is even, surprisingly strong, although a bit bass-shy, just as I'd wanted for recording. A Tonerite has been sitting on the guitar for about a week now and made an amazing difference in an already very nice sounding instrument.The guitar intonates excellently, my tech said the action and intonation were perfect and needed no adjustment, and I'm very happy.ON EDIT, several weeks later: more and more ToneRite makes a wonderful budget guitar more and more complex and satisfying to play. Very happy I chose this instrument.

Great service from Amazon and a great so-called 'budget' guitar,

I just got one of these delivered today and there was a chip in the saddle, so it has to go back. Hopefully I can get a replacement without any trouble. Before I noticed the break, I got to play around on it for a few mintues: damage aside, it's a beautiful guitar, great finish, great detail, looks and sounds like an old 20's or 30's blues-box. The 1 3/4" nut is perfect for both fingerpicking and strumming out chords. The action was a little low, resulting in a bit of fret buzz, but a professional set-up would probably fix it. I'm glad that in a world where technology forces everything forward so quickly, Recording King and its parent company, Music Link, have taken a step backward and started making these vintage-inspired guitars that are both affordable and well-built. Sure, it's not a vintage Gibson or Martin, but it costs a quarter of what those would and it's built surprisingly well. I'll add more when the replacement arrives, but my initial impression of this guitar is very good.LATER-It turns out that the problem was so minor it was an easy fix and so didn't need to be returned. Commendations to Amazon, as they put the order for a replacement through so quickly that I almost didn't catch it. That being done, I've got it in the shop to get some set-up work done, but again I'll say that I'm impressed with the quality and sound of this 'budget' instrument. The deep body is very comfortable to play and adds a lot of dimension to the sound. Also of note is that the tuners are Grover Deluxe- usually found on a much higher priced guitar, and the finish and detail, particularly the inlaid crown logo on the headstock, make it look and feel like a guitar twice the price. Overall, a great value from Recording King, if you're willing to lay out a little extra for a setup.
