Upgrades include a new tortoise shell pickguard and mother-of-pearl rosette design, new compensated rosewood bridge design, aged bridge pins with black dots, solid mahogany back, mother-of-pearl Fender logo headstock inlay, and smaller (3 mm) dot fingerboard inlays. Features include scalloped “X” bracing, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, dual-action truss rod, die-cast tuners and Fishman® Presys™ pickup system with active onboard preamp, tuner, volume and tone controls and low-battery indicator light.

Terrific quality (all mahogany top)

This review is for the MAHOGANY top model (solid top) and solid mahogany back. My background: I am a guitarist for the past ten years. I have been doing live performances for pay the last year. I have owned Ibanez acoustic (EWC30 and AEG10), Epiphone Masterbilt, Baby Taylor, Little Martin and one Ayers all-solid dreadnaught. I play a lot of strumming chords combined with fingerstyle picking and a little bit of bends and solo work.I have to say, this Fender blew my mind! Plenty of "attack" and sharpness blends perfectly with a solid bass that sustains. It is possible the best acoustic I have owned, only comparable to the Ayers Acoustic. Better than the Epiphone Masterbilt in my opinion. The body is deeper than I expected, so it was a little uncomfortable in the beginning for me to sit with it on the couch (I am not a big guy at 5'9"). Action was low and the guitar is a breeze to play. It has the sort of sparkling treble that just smacks the listener in the face, especially when you strum it hard. I have yet to try the pickup, but I have high expectations. The finish is flawless, no lazy hands have touched this guitar. It is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GUITAR I HAVE EVER SEEN.I let my friend who is a high school music teacher and classicly trained guitarist. His comments were clear: He thought it played and sounded fantastic.So, I guess you can no longer claim that "Fender makes mediocre acoustics". This is BY NO MEANS a mediocre guitar. It is a true steal at the prize, and I challenge any Taylor or Martin to sound this good acoustically at twice the price.So - I am sure if you are going to buy a guitar in the $400-1000 class - this guitar is definetely one of the best in the price range, and it is just over 400. A steal.

I walked into my local George's Music recently and went straight for the acoustic guitar room. I had just traded my acoustic-electric and wanted a new one. If I was going to buy a guitar, it could cost no more than $500 however. I started playing the Ibanez and Yamaha guitars because I heard that they had the best guitars in that price range. The closest I got to being impressed was with a $500 Yamaha. I still wasn't ready to commit however. Then, on a whim, I pulled down the only Fender on the back wall...The CA-360SCE. I thought that half of the price would be for the name on the headstock, and the sound would be underwhelming. On the very first G chord I was proven wrong. Wow. While the more expensive guitars were tinny and uninspiring, the sound out of the Fender was rich and bassy. It sounded like more than just a beginners guitar. My wife immediately confirmed what I was thinking. The only guitar that I played that compared was the $650 Taylor, but this guitar looks better. When I got home, I plugged it into my Super Champ XD and put it on the acoustic channel. That is when I knew that I had spent my money very well indeed. I have never personally heard a better acoustic-electric sound. These things are sadly not getting a lot of recognition. I implore you...Try it!
