Good beginner mandolin

I did not find my Fender FM-100 to have any defects at all. It appears to be well made, no scratches or dings and has a decent sound for an inexpensive instrument. Don't look down on Chinese made instruments. For the most part they are crafted by experienced luthiers and their quality is much better than you might expect. The only thing I would recommend if one purchased this mandolin is to have it set up (nut and bridge adjustments) by someone who knows what they're doing and install better strings, such as medium gauge Elixir strings. This will make a lot of difference in the sound and it will be easier to play too. Later on, you might want to move up to a solid-spruce top mandolin but for the money, this is a good starter instrument.

Good beginner mandolin, if you like blowing your money away. Very cheaply made, not worth the price. Mine had marks in the wood grain that looked awful. Had decent sound. Rule of thumb, never purchase musical instruments online, always go to a store to purchase so that you know what it looks like and how good it plays up front. Thank you Amazon for the easy return!!!
