Beautiful Guitar in Sound and Appearance

If you are not familiar with the Seagull name, you should check them out. Seagull is a sub-brand of Godin. These guitars are hand-made in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada. The quality of their work truly is incredible. In my opinion, they are on the same level as Taylor, Martin, Gibson and Breedlove -- without the hefty price tag.I bought the Mosaic Folk a few years a go. It is the best guitar I have owned to this point. I have never had an issue with it, and it has aged amazingly. Although, it does not have the projection with it's smaller body and cedar top like you would find in a Taylor, I have found it is still well able to fill a room with great sound. I remember reading the description on Guitar Center's website before I bought it, and it described the guitar as "ideal for intimate settings." I think that pretty well sums this guitar up.It has a great lush warm tone that would leave even the most critical ear satisfied. What I appreciate the most about Seagull guitars is they seem to spend the majority of their efforts in making a guitar that sounds great. There are next to no frills on any of their guitars. I like it that way. Although, that isn't to say that this guitar isn't aesthetically pleasing as well. It's just that the guitar's features are understated. It is adorned with abolone shells on the Seagull emblem both on the headstock and 12th fret as well as the bridge pin dots. The bridge is simple but very nice, and the headstock is very unique. At first, I wasn't sure if I would be a fan of the headstock shape and size, but I've grown accustomed to it's quirky design. I've found the shape and size, in fact, serve a purpose. They say it is designed to improve tuning stability. I think they're right.All in all, if you are willing to venture beyond Martin, Taylor and Gibson, I think you will find Seagull has a ton to offer. Their guitars deserve every bit as much respect as the grandfather brands we've all grown up around. I hope this sheds some much needed light on this great guitar.

The Mosaic Folk is a one-of-a-kind model in the Seagull line. Although it is an OM size, it still has a great bass response and well balanced treble. The workmanship is fantastic, from the joinery to the finish. The Mosaic Folk looks and sounds as good as guitars costing significantly more.
