Incorporates the revolutionary lyramold round-shaped back - the acoustic guitar design introduced by ovation. the dovetail heel/neck joint allows the neck angle to be accurately and permanently set at the factory. the thruneck design offers a more playable, stable neck and supports the fingerboard into the guitar body. the neck is truss adjustable and made of mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard. birch marquetry rosette trim. walnut bridge is shimmed for easy string action adjustment.

4Applause; Well, for the most part.

Applause is a lower priced acoustic by Ovation made in China. It uses the same principles that Ovation is innovative for such as the rounded back and the compound that it is used to make this part of the guitar. The rest of the guitar is made with conventional wood. It is claimed that the unique back will create a louder acoustic sound, create its own distinguishing tone, and the compound used will not shrink or crack as natural wood can over the ages or from harsh use. The biggest problem I have noticed other than what another reviewer mentioned about slipping out of your lap, is that I must not have sufficient length of arms to comfortably wrap my strumming arm around the body of the guitar. It is almost a 1/2 inch wider or deeper, however you want to look at, from the soundboard to the back so for someone with smaller build or shorter arms, it gets uncomfortable playing after several hours. It is still a beautiful instrument and sounds great but this wider body is something to possibly consider when contemplating what acoustic bass you would like to buy. I could handle less acoustical volume and deal with not as much low end if only the rounded back was just a bit more shallow. Most of the other acoustic basses I looked at were around 5 inches in depth for the body of the guitar, but if you look at the dimensions of the Applause, it is 5.3 inches in depth. Although the body is rounded and is not consistently the full 5.3 inches for the entire back (around the top edge it is only 2.8 inches estimate), it seems to be at the most critical point that makes it feel too bulky.
