The Folk is an excellent choice for fingerstyle playing. The guitars that make up the Seagull Coastline series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Coastline series models are made from a three-layer lamination of wild cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a mahogany guitar and the bright sound of maple, wild cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, wild cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. Coastline series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

Great sounding and playing guitar

I would love to find out more from the guy who gave this guitar a "1"... it is one of the best acoustic guitars you can buy for less than $1000 in my opinion. Fit and finish on mine are superb. Tone is great. My only complaint is that the standard seagull neck is a bit big. Try one at a local music shop to see what I mean. I am comfortable doing work and adjustment on my instruments so I was ok sanding and refinishing. The articulation of this guitar is very difficult to describe. The only thing I've played which was similar was a Taylor in the $1000 range. That guitar was easier to play, but my Seagull cost in the $450 range on sale WITH a Tric case. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews about this guitar and the company before getting mine.

I've had this guitar for about 15 years. My father in law gave it to me for me to learn to play on, and I absolutely love it. The action rivals guitars of double or triple the price, and the tone is amazing. One word of caution: the top is cedar, which is a soft wood. It does scratch very easily, and I highly recommend adding a pick guard if you plan on strumming.

Very timely shipping with the utmost care given to protect the guitar. Came out of the box ready to play!!! Very nice action and low strings with no buzz at all! I have a gretsch, that does not sound nearly this sweet! This will not be my last guitar from these wonderful people...................Thanks, Renee
