A serious musical instrument

I had some trepidation in buying a guitar from any online seller. There are variations in manufacture of musical instruments. After all, it is not like buying an appliance or piece of electronic gear where there is a guaranteed sameness from one unit to another. With a guitar there will be variation from unit to unit in finish and workmanship. It is important to not only select the manufacture and model of guitar, but be comfortable with the individual unit. The guitar sent to me was perfect. Absolutely no imperfections of any sort. I have had professional, music store setup on my other guitars, but this one I will play as is.I had previously tried the Godin 5th Avenue out in a music store. I had read many positive reviews. It also helps that I am a big John McLaughlin fan who now plays Godin guitars exclusively.To The One I knew it was a guitar I wanted to add to my collection. I was put off a little by the price. The price was a bit out of my range. I am a non-gigging amateur, intermediate player. I dabble mostly in jazz.I had been checking on the price of this and a few other models on Amazon. There are serious price swings on some guitars listed on Amazon. When I saw the price drop on this one, I was compelled to act.As for the instrument itself; first the appearance is top-notch. It is a beautiful looking instrument. Many details of the guitar and the finish just quietly shout "serious instrument". That it is made in North America (Canada), I find an added plus. I have a Chinese made Epiphone that has required replacing the electronics.It plays as good as anything I have ever played on. I don't think it projects well enough acoustically to play to a room unplugged. It is excellent for acoustic practice or unplugged canoodling. I have a Fender DEC-Junior that I practice with. I play this on the "Tweed" Amp simulation. The tones are clear. Perfect for accompaniment.I am still playing with the original strings. I will replace with the same type and brand (Godin) . I will not modify this instrument for now. I do like to play Frankenstein with modifying my guitars.Other things to note - quality components throughout, like a Tusq nut.I also bought the Godin TRIC case for the instrument and would recommend the case as well.Godin Tric Case Archtop Deluxe for 5th Avenue (Black) I live in a Northern climate where there is low humidity in the winter, so I will be outfitting this guitar with a humidifier.To sum up. This is one beautiful, quality serious musical instrument. I have been making purchases from Amazon both big and small since their inception without complaint. I will continue to do so. As for Godin, I would definitely buy another one of their guitars. I am currently considering the Freeway SA Synth Access and a La Patrie Dreadnought.

I play in a 3 piece. I do alot of diffrent pop tunes from Tom petty to STP to Johnny Cash a bit of rockabilly some unpluged grunge. I wanted something a bit more versital than my acoustic. I purchased a Godin 5th Ave in matt Black, no cutaway 1 P-90. One of the few guitars I bought online sight unseen simpley from research and reviews. First off its looks are simply outstanding. Its got that cool retro mojo but with a modern feel. The cream binding is a nice touch. The neck is very "gretch like" to me super easy to play with that gibson like scale. The action was great and easly ajustible with the floating graphtec bridge. Fit and finsh very well done no sharp frets etc.I use exlirs 11 gauge electric strings on it and plug into a Egnater 30 watt tube head and a 1x12 cab. The cleans are very warm and its very purcussive like an acoustic for rythm work but add some gain and it gets spanky for rockabilly. Add a few Chuck Berryish bends you'll see that lead work is alot of fun too(up to the 12th fret anyway.) Harder blues like some foghat or even some rock like AC/DCs "the Jack" just wail with higher nice gain. I found a good some compresser pedal keeps it tightand kicks it up another notch too. VERY Versital, Very well put together, Very affordable , made in North America...heck what are you waiting for. If you need a nice affordable "player" look no further than the Godin 5th ave.

I just received the guitar today, and I will say it is everything it is supposed to be and more. Fit and finish is beautiful- I got the cognac burst. It sounds fantastic acoustic and when plugged in the P90 pick-up gives you a great fat tone as you would expect and want from a hollow-body. I originally was interested in the Kingpin II, but by mistake ordered the Kingpin, and I am so happy with it I don't feel the need to return it for the more upgraded model. The styling is so classic without the cut-away, and I am sure you get a bit more acoustically with the straight body. If you are considering a hollow-body for jazz and blues and don't want to shell out a couple grand for a gibson or grestch this is the real deal. I also purchased the tric case- this model does not come with a case. I was able to get the guitar for 10 percent of at Sweetwater when I mentioned guitar center had a sale. Sweetwater fedexed it to me in two days, and the guitar came set-up great. Other than that Upfront Guitars seems a good guitar shop that will ship for free and has blemished models for great prices. Don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed. My new favorite guitar.
