Well Made

Just a quick review...I received this guitar as a Christmas gift. I really can't say enough nice things about it. Solid spruce top and a nut and saddle made out of real bone. I am not sure how, given the low price, that they can make any money on this thing. I am really enjoying playing this guitar. One thing I noticed right out of the box is the fact that the set up on the guitar was excellent (the string height to the fret board, the feel of the neck all felt great.) Someone is paying attention to those little things. As it is an OOO-sized guitar it will not have the heavy bass response that a dreadnought sized guitar provides but the mid-ranges just jump out of this guitar! I am just amazed at what you get for the price. I can only imagine what the higher priced recording king models sound like - they have to be really nice (maybe for next Christmas!).

Great Buy - Great Guitar

I bought this guitar on a whim from a local dealer after playing it in the shop. The price for the quality just couldn't be surpassed by any other guitar in the store. This guitar sounds great - like a guitar priced 5 times as much - and plays like a dream. I love the small body and slightly shorter (24.9'') scale. It really is a fingerpickers dream but it sounds great strummed with a pick also. It's just a great little guitar for such a cheap price that you'd be remiss in passing it up. In my opinion this has to be the best guitar for the money being made today. Then again all Recording King products are really excellent so that's not surprising. Highly recommended.

I was a bit gun shy about purchasing a Chinese import guitar, having tried in the past with one and got burned (took it to my local luthier and he found the bridge plate was missing). But wanting another guitar to keep in an alternate tuning, and not having a big budget, I gave this a try based on some good online reviews. All I can say is: everyone who wants a backup or second (or third) guitar should get one of these. I play fingerstyle ragtime, celtic, blues and slack key, and love the sound and playability of this little instrument. The 000 size and wider neck are perfect for fingerstyle, and my luthier gave it the thumbs up when I took it in for inspection (he even declined to set it up, saying it was good to go). My primary guitar is a Taylor GC-7, which I love. Does the RK sound as good? No, but it still sounds and plays really fine. Does the Taylor sound 10 x as good (which is just about exactly how much more it cost)? Not by a mile. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up, and you'll find yourself going to it quite a bit.
