BR-371 12-Fret O-Style Guitar The Blueridge BR-371 Parlor guitar celebrates the past. This new Blueridge is the perfect replicas of a classic, small-bodied parlor guitar built around the turn of the century. Every feature of design, workmanship and ornamentation is faithfully reproduced, but with a few modern improvements such as a slimmer, more playable neck and adjustable truss rod. Representing the top of the line for our Blueridge Parlor guitars, BR-371 features stunning abalone pearl inlay around top and soundhole as well as select solid woods throughout.

I bought my Blueridge just a few weeks ago. I was looking for a small-bodied guitar with a 'big' sound. I tried outseveral Taylors and Martins with a similar body size that were close in price range to the 371, but hands down, theBlueridge won me over. For one thing, the bass strings have an incredible resonance. While you may not get as much fromthe treble strings, overall, this guitar represents a a wonderful playing experience, whether you are finger picking, strumming, or playing for a heavier rhyhtmic output.I love the small body size of the guitar, but again, don't be fooled that this parlor model will lack depth or that it doesn't have great tonal output because it does.I did make several changes though to the guitar: I put some lighter Elixir strings on and sanded the bridge, just a bit to improve playability. The slightly lower action on the guitar made it a bit easier to play. My only complaint is that barring chords can be more of a challenge beyond the fifth fret, but that may vary from player to player, depending on how much you play.All in all though, for the price, you get a really fine guitar with great sound, and generally good playability.

I have spent some time with this instrument (albeit from a different vendor) and think it is a professional-quality instrument for an intermediate instrument's price. It is especially well-suited for modern finger-style playing.The parlor guitar all but disappeared in the 1960s with the advent of popular folk music in club and concert venues. Most pro performers then preferred "dreadnaught" guitars for greater volume and projection in large, miked venues. The novice player looking to purchase a "better" guitar quite naturally followed the lead of his idols, not thinking about the more intimate settings in which they would perfom.Now the 0 guitar makes its return - the machine you see in photos of Robert Johnson and Charley Patton! The Blueridge BR-371 is offered in rosewood with an ebony fingerboard. Lutherie and quality control are outstanding. The guitars project as well as the bigger boys, and their tone is woody and ringing.I'd never buy a guitar I couldn't play for a while, since individual instruments can vary niticeably. Look at the seller's return policy and factor in the cost of shipping if you're unhappy. Still, I expect most players who want a "guitar sound" will be very pleased.
