A great introduction to a pre-war style acoustic guitar, the Classic Series I has fine craftsmanship and a natural acoustic tone. This guitar features a solid Engelmann spruce top, mahogany or rosewood back and sides, fully scalloped forward-x bracing and a mahogany neck. Series I models have a Recording King "damask" pattern M.O.P. headstock inlay and abalone snowflake position markers. The traditioanl features on this guitar include a vintage-style beveled pickguard and classic butterbean tuners. Available in a variety of body shapes and finishes, this guitar has the look and sound of a true classic.

By D. Wilson
Every now and then something comes along that surprises you and makes you smile. This guitar will do that. I'm a 51 year old guitar player and I've played in dance bands since the mid 70's. I like the saying "One can never have too many guitars". I have about a dozen or so and about half of them are big name 2500+ models. I wanted a 000 size to leave out so I could pick it up anytime inspiration strikes. Finding a decent guitar for not alot of money is tough, then trying to find it online without hearing it is a real task. I searched all over and finally clicked on this one.It arrived double boxed in great shape. I took it out and tuned it up and it sounded great. Mine came with a hang tag stating it was strung with D'Addario strings which are my favorite. The tuners are nice and smooth, after the strings settled in it is holding tune very well. I was impressed that this model cam with a bone nut and saddle. This is very important for a good tone. Most lesser expensive models come with plastic, Yuck! This guitar also has a slightly wider neck, perfect for larger hands, like mine, finger picking and strumming. Its not so wide that it feels like a 2x4 in your hand though. My nephew played it, he has small hands and he loved it. The volume is suprising, I would not have thought that a smaller guitar would produce this much volume. It has decent bass for a 000 size, mid range and highs sound beautiful. The finish is beautiful, dark Mahogany back and sides and a natural solid spruce top. A solid top is very important for good tone. The neck is nice and smooth. Some of the dark color on the fret board is comming off on my finger tips after a playing session but it washes right off. The setup on mine is great. I'm picky on setup. I like low action and usually have to have a new guitar set up. I don't plan on changing anything on this one. I does not have any dots or markers on the fretboard. It has position markers on the neck. If you like to watch the fretboard to know where you are this may take a little getting used to, but after a little playtime you won't need the fretboard markers anymore. No pickgard, if it matters to you, I think it looks better without one.In conclusion: Great sounding, small bodied, easy playing, excellent choice for a parlor guitar, starter guitar, travel, campfire singing. In the 100-500 dollar range I would rank this guitar near the top of the list.

By Randwolf
I just received this guitar and so far I am well pleased with the purchase. It arrived via Fedex double boxed and in perfect condition. Even the box looked like it had been handled with care. The setup was decent and after a quick tune up I was playing it. I was amazed at how easy it was to play although there was a little buzz on the B string on the second fret. The 1 3/4 nut width is perfect for me as I like a little wider neck. The solid spruce top was tight grained. I am really impressed with the bone nut and saddle that is not usually found on guitars at this price. The tuners work well and seem to be of a decent quality for an inexpensive guitar. The sound is nice and gentle with plenty of volume for a concert/parlor size body. The finish on my example is adequate but not spectacular. The gloss finish really seems to me more like a satin and in certain light conditions I can see some small areas where the finish is thinner than other places on the body. The finish is not too important to me though because the purpose of this guitar for me is to be a quick grab/practice tool. All in all, if you need a nice inexpensive (not cheaply made) beginner or quick grab guitar to practice with you could do much worse than this one even if you spend a little more money. I'm keeping it.

I have a problem with this guitar... I CANT PUT IT DOWN!!! For the money this IS a Fantastic instrument!! It came with D'addario strings, nicely packaged, and after tuning her up I discovered a Brilliant and clear solid wood guitar tone that you would expect to pay Alot for!! I am a die-hard Martin guy so when I wanted a 000 style guitar I looked around and happen to find it here, I don't have $1500.00 for a Martin 000 so I ordered this one and I figured I could yard sale it if I didn't like it....Well long story short, This one is staying right here!! It's playability and the solid wood body, and back, bone nut and saddle make it Very easy to play!! The neck is big but not too much, but I have big hands...If your looking for a starter or an addition to your collection that looks just as good as it plays, this is the one, I love the matte finish, because I have found over the years that gloss finishes tend to be sticky when your playin hard and sweaty...my opinion anyway, I will highly recommend this one to people and players I know!! Great Job Recording King, the only draw back is that it is made in China, wish it were made here....
